Military Culture and Treatment

The military culture, characterized by it's focus on discipline, honour, and loyalty, plays a significant role in shaping the behaviours and attitudes of veterans, particularly in relation to mental health and addictions treatment. Understanding this cultural backdrop is crucial for developing effective and culturally attuned treatment strategies that address both substance use disorders and concurrent mental health challenges, ultimately improving recovery outcomes for veterans.

At Cadence, we view veterans as individuals rather than mere statistics within the healthcare system. We hold the belief that recovery is available and can manifest in various ways; what is effective for one person may not be for another. Our aim is to provide a range of options and to reassure everyone that they are not alone in their journey, and that improvement is indeed possible.

Our services are covered by Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC), there are no up-front or out of pocket expenses. We work with Veterans Affairs to secure your coverage and will bill them directly for your services.

Military Families

We recognize that the road to recovery is not a solitary one; it is a shared experience that involves the entire family unit. Our mission is to create a supportive environment where veterans and their families can find solace, understanding, and the tools they need to thrive.

We understand that mental health does not exist in a vacuum; they affect not only the individual but also their loved ones. Therefore, our program integrates personalized therapeutic interventions for veterans alongside essential family orientated resources and counselling. This holistic approach ensures that families are not left behind in the healing process.

In our nurturing environment, families are encouraged to learn, bond, and heal together. We facilitate open dialogue and foster relationships, recognizing that strong connections are vital to recovery. By involving families in the therapeutic process, we help to strengthen relationships and create a support network that extends beyond the walls of our facility. This comprehensive approach guarantees that both veterans and their families receive the necessary care and support to embark on their recovery journey together.
